    holding the weedeater sideways works good in certain areas, such as densely wooded areas with weed growth or several types of flowerbeds that have weed growth, it allows you to "burn" the beds out. that's basic shit.

    I brewed 2 flowers into 2 cups of tea and shared it with a friend. The trip was strange. My mind wasnt able to connect complete thoughts. I would have a thought, but would be unable to go from point a to b. My inner monologue lost about 70 iq points while all of the objects around me became conscious. I had telepathic conversations with everyday items. My friend and I ignored eachother as our fascination with the items around us was so intense. I had to get home but was unable to use my phone. It felt the way phones do in a dream. I knew I had the phone, but could not figure out how to use it, or remember my mom's number. I finally found her speed dial and called her. She didnt know where Nick lived and I tried to give her directions to his house, but was unable to articulate it. Nick forgot his address by this point. I was finally able to get her to come get me but Nick never knew I left. He hung out with my hat all night. It reaponded to his anticdots, laughed at his jokes, and gave him insite on life and the universe. This drug personifies objects and allows you to hear the thoughts of everything. Lamps, chairs, carpet, tables, lighters ..every object that is made of atoms has a personality this drug allows you to tap into. The down side, you can die, and for the next 2 days your vision will be blurry. I couldn't see a computer screen or read a magazine, but totally worth it. Knowing that everything has consciousness is a lesson ill never forget

  • @michaelnorth5139
    @michaelnorth5139 5 месяцев назад

    Time to educate Wyomingites on ALL IPM methods, not just the environmental, liberal steering points to go all organic. You should have stated the obvious... You suggested to use parasitic wasp but fail to tell us: A) how to attract said wasp, B) can we attract & trap this gall wasp or C) what formulation of pesticide and timing for use to thin down the pest population? I understand better than most, that systemic translocate via live tissue, ingestion wont work if the pest doesn't feed on the live tissue and contact pesticides will not pass thru the woody gall tissue. Q. Will a bark penetrating surfactant move an insecticide or ovicide thru the gall tissue, killing this maggot/wasp?

    • @UWyoExtension
      @UWyoExtension 5 месяцев назад

      From our pesticide safety education coordinator: There are no pesticides labeled for this use. A bark penetrating surfactant may be more damaging to the tree than the gall wasp.

    But a pot with rocks in the bottom would hold less water overall because the volume of soil is reduced. It would be like using a smaller sponge. Maybe the difference you are getting at is that more water is held close to the surface when the bottom of the pot is filled with rocks, compared to more drainage occurring in the upper soil layer with a pot full of soil. So the depth of high soil moisture could be more important to root rot than the actual amount of water in the pot.

    • @UWyoExtension
      @UWyoExtension 7 месяцев назад

      Yes, the upper soil would be saturated before the drainage from the soil would occur into the space with the rock, so the roots would actually be more likely to have root rot occur.

    • @UWyoExtension
      @UWyoExtension 9 месяцев назад

      From Jeff Edwards, our Pesticide Safety Specialist: The answer is no. It is recommended to place the products into a secondary container large enough to hold the material if it spills and to not transport inside a car (including trunk) but transport in the back of a pickup.

    • @UWyoExtension

      From Donna Hoffman: some root vegetables can remain in the garden and dug for winter meals until the ground has frozen solid and the veggies can’t be dug. Straw will prolong the harvesting season, as it insulates the soil from freezing temperatures until later in winter.

    • @UWyoExtension
      @UWyoExtension 11 месяцев назад

      Carpenter worms are not a threat to building structures. They prefer stressed, weakened, but still living trees to attack. The female carpenter worm moths are weak fliers and spread slowly to adjacent suitable trees. I think the drying firewood will not be suited to keep the caterpillars alive and they will be unable to complete their life cycle from it. Here is a good extension bulleting from USU with more details on the species. extension.usu.edu/pests/research/carpenterworms Scott Schell UW Extension Entomology Specialist

    • @UWyoExtension

      From our horticulturist Donna Hoffman: My suspicion is that the roots will be more deeply rooted with the point end (the root emerges from the point end) down. This method probably also keeps the root from pushing the seed out of the ground as it emerges.

    Thanks @UWyoExtension for posting this video about affirmative action / supreme court. Here are the viewpoints expressed by Supreme Court justices regarding affirmative action. 1) This case is about a group called Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) who sued Harvard College and the University of North Carolina (UNC). They said that these schools were not fair in their admissions process because they were using race as a factor, which they believed was against the law. The law they referred to is the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment*. 2) The Equal Protection Clause is a part of the Fourteenth Amendment that says that every person should be treated equally by the law, no matter their race, color, or nationality. The SFFA believed that by considering race in admissions, Harvard and UNC were not treating all applicants equally. 3) The Court looked at the history of the Fourteenth Amendment and how it has been used in the past. They also looked at how other cases involving race and college admissions were handled. They found that while diversity in a student body can be a good thing, it must be handled in a way that treats all applicants fairly and equally. 4) The Court also looked at the idea of "strict scrutiny*". This is a way for the courts to look at laws to see if they are fair and necessary. If a law or policy is found to be unfair or unnecessary, it may not pass strict scrutiny and could be considered unconstitutional. 5) The Court found that the admissions systems at Harvard and UNC did not pass strict scrutiny. They said that the schools' use of race in admissions was not clear or specific enough, and it resulted in fewer admissions for certain racial groups. They also said that the schools' use of race in admissions seemed to stereotype certain racial groups, which is not allowed. 6) The Court also said that the schools' admissions systems did not have a clear end point. This means that there was no clear plan for when the schools would stop using race as a factor in admissions. This was another reason why the Court said the schools' admissions systems were not fair. 7) The Court decided that the admissions systems at Harvard and UNC were not fair and did not follow the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. They said that the schools' use of race in admissions was not clear, specific, or fair enough to be allowed. 8) However, the Court also said that schools can consider how race has affected an applicant's life. They can look at how an applicant's experiences with their race have shaped them and what they can bring to the school because of those experiences. 9) In the end, the Court decided that the admissions systems at Harvard and UNC were not fair and did not follow the law. They said that the schools' use of race in admissions was not allowed because it was not clear, specific, or fair enough. 10) So, the Court decided that the SFFA was right. They said that Harvard and UNC were not treating all applicants equally in their admissions process, which is against the law. They said that the schools needed to change their admissions systems to be fair to all applicants, no matter their race. *The Equal Protection Clause is a part of the Fourteenth Amendment that says that every person should be treated equally by the law, no matter their race, color, or nationality. *Strict scrutiny is a way for the courts to look at laws to see if they are fair and necessary. If a law or policy is found to be unfair or unnecessary, it may not pass strict scrutiny and could be considered unconstitutional.

    I'm in Utah and have several Heritage River Birch trees. They all are healthy now, but I wonder if this would be a good preventative to apply each fall. Is this as effective as doing a root drench? I looks more simple. What product would you recommend?

    • @UWyoExtension
      @UWyoExtension Год назад

      From Hudson Hill, our ag educator in Afton, WY: The best preventative measure for trees is to keep them healthy so they can defend themselves from disease, bacteria, viruses, insects, and other herbivores. The best way to do that is fertilizer and deep water during the summer months, and late water in the fall at least until the leaves fall off tree. If you are worried about insects the systemic products work great. To me using the root drench and the granular product is similar because you still need to get that product to the roots of the tree using water, I feel like I can control the granular a little better. As far as what product is concerned, it is hard to say since we do not know what insect we are trying to deter. Usually here in western Wyoming we use a product with the active ingredient imidacloprid in it easiest to find in a product called Bayer tree and shrub.
